Book available to Seoul brothers

Friday night the doorbell rang. The UPS deliveryman handed me an unexpected package from my publisher – five copies of Why Men Hate Going to Church in Korean!  It is the first translated version of the book. I had no idea the book was being translated into any other language.

This is an exciting development. Korea is home to the world’s largest church, and according to a recent article in Christianity Today, Korea sends out more foreign missionaries than any country other than the United States.

Apparently, the Korean church is suffering the same gender gaps as the Western church, so my publisher decided to have the book translated. Join me in praying that the book is helpful to a generation of pastors, church planters and laypeople who want to see more men walking with Christ.

DVD is in production

Many of you have asked about a DVD of “Why Men Hate Going to Church.” We’ll be putting out a DVD of David Murrow’s 40-minute presentation by the end of this month. Keep checking back for ordering information.

DVD update

The editing is done on my upcoming DVD, “Why Men Hate Going to Church.” I'm currently having the DVD manufactured, and I'm working out a distribution agreement. Once those two are in place, it will be available to the public.

In the meantime, to give you an idea of what's on the disc, here's an excerpt from the promotional blurb that will be printed on the back cover:

Church is boring

It’s irrelevant

It’s full of hypocrites

You’ve heard the excuses: now learn the real reasons men and boys are fleeing churches the world over.

David Murrow tackles this taboo subject with humor and grace. His fast-paced, entertaining presentation will help you understand why fewer than 40 percent of the adults in the typical worship service are men. You’ll emerge with a fresh understanding of what must be done to get guys back.

This DVD includes a 35-minute presentation from David Murrow, and discussion questions suitable for anyone, male or female.

“David Murrow is a talented and entertaining speaker who really delivers the goods. His message is right on target.”

Reform Jews losing their young men

Reform Jewish Synagogues are losing their young men, so says reporter Debra Nussbaum-Cohen in an article in the New York Times. The most liberal wing of Judaism is in the same sinking boat as many liberal Christian denominations.

Not only are they studying the problem, but a group of courageous Jews is taking a step most churches would never consider: they’re sponsoring men-only worship services. The result: these services are packed with young men.
